The new Baskonia star is excited about him joining an historic club competing in the world’s second best league. He defines himself as a complete and team player and ensures that comes to give all he’s got. Just 22 years and his first child is on the way, he will be born next week.
You are the first face of the New Baskonia. How do you feel?
I’m really looking forward to be there and get going. I know Baskonia is a great team with a lot of history and one of the greatest of the Euroleague. I am excited to be part of this organization and this team.
You are young but already have played in different leagues such as ACB, Euroleague, the D-League and the NBA. Tell us about your experience on the NBA.
I have not enjoyed many minutes, but the experience has been very enriching. I gained particular expertise during practices thanks to my teammates, legends like Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce. Being surrounded by these experienced stars has helped me learn something new every day. Learnings such as how to be a leader and a good professional. I will try to harness and use everything I’ve learned in the NBA for the rest of my career.
This is your comeback to Europe, you intend to show your full potential?
It’s time to play. After two years over there, I want to play in the world’s second best league, the ACB and for a great team like Baskonia. Whatever team I play for I always try to give my best, and this time I’m looking forward to get to Vitoria and get going.
Those who have seen you play define you as a versatile and complete player. What can you bring to Baskonia?
My philosophy is to play the game around my teammates, working on offense and defense and transmitting a lot of energy and leadership to the team. I’m a great fighter, in every game, no matter if the opponent is modest or powerful. Once you step on the court, no matter who the opponent is because I’m a warrior. I work on multiple aspects of my game, not only my shot or my handling, but also my passing, and I practice playing in different positions… I’m a team player.
Tell us about you. What are your hobbies?
To be honest, I don’t think I will have many free time, and the few time I’ll have I’ll be spending it with my kid which I expect to be born in a week now.
And what do you expect from Baskonia fans?
As they expect good basketball, I hope they are the sixth player on the court when we play at home. Fans and supporters make you big, when you’re down their energy and support make you get up stronger.
