Baskonia gets placed on Group D of the top European competition.
This morning, the draw for making up the groups for the first phase of the Euroleague has taken place. At 12:00, top representative of the competition Jordi Bertomeu, made the introduction and began the draw.
Laboral Kutxa has been placed in Group D and will have to face Valencia Basket, Galatasaray, Estrella Roja and Neptunas Klaipeda. Out of this 6 team group, only 4 will advance to the next phase, the TOP 16.
Rivals
Olympiacos: After conquering back to back Final Fours, the Greek colossus has not been able to get to last years Final Four in Milan after losing the semifinals against Real Madrid. Last year, Baskonia faced twice this team, both with negative results for the Vitorian squad.
Valencia Basket: Actual champion of the Eurocup, has just completed their best overall season both in the Spanish regular league and in Europe. Coached by Vladimir Perasovic, the y will make their return to the top European competition.
Galatasaray: The Turkish team participated again last year in the Euroleague making a great run and getting all the way to the top 8 in which they could not defeat Barcelona.
Estrella Roja: Known team for Laboral Kutxa which faced twice last year. In both meetings Estrella Roja took the victory.
Neptunas Klaipeda: the Lithuanian team make his debut in the Euroleague after competing last year in the Eurocup and being eliminated on the first phase.
The rest of the groups get placed the following way.
Group A: Real Madrid, Anadolu Efes, Zalgiris Kaunas, Nizhny Novgorod, Dinamo Sassari, El QRS winner.
Group B: CSKA, Maccabi, Unicaja, Alba Berlin, Cedevita Zagreb, Limoges.
Group C: FC Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Fenerbahce, EA7 Emporio Armani, FC Bayern Munich, Torow Zgorzwelec.
The team that will result victorious out of the qualifying round will be between: Unics Kazan, Stelmet Zielona Gora, Hapoel Jerusalem, Cez Basketball Nymburk, Asvel Lyon Villeurbanne, Vef Riga and Strasbourg.
