Baskonia’s young team formed Ilimane Diop has been included by the Spanish Basketball Federation into the pre-list for Río de Janeiro Olympic Games.
IIlimane Diop is making his debut with the Spanish Pro National Team while he had previous experiences between 2011 and 2015.
Spain will begin on Friday its preparation for the Olympics in Madrid having 20 players who will battle for a spot on the final team’s roster.
Diop received the news with great enthusiasm. “I’m really happy, it’s something that is too big as not everyone is drawn to be part on the list. I’m really proud and grateful for this opportunity”.
Player from the Basque-Country team embraces this chance even though it is likely he won’t be called eventually. “Being or not on the list isn’t the most importante thing. What is big is to be there, practising, helping out your team in any way you can. That’s enough for me. Whatever happens next, I will look forward to it”.
For Ilimane this call offers a new experience to learn. “I will do my best to learn from the best players, who play in the NBA. The team is already made but I will be focused on every training session to post my hard-work”.
