Reduced hoops, limited vision glasses or D-MAN will be some of the sports tools that will be used during this edition of the Campus.
Only 25 days until the beginning of the seventh edition of the International Campus EDP Baskonia, with the last arrangements to receive the boys and girls from all over the world now taking place.
This year the participants will encounter great new features in the different spaces where they practise and also they will be able to use brand new material that will allow them to improve their overall skills.
This morning, two of Baskonia’s young players, Carlos Martínez and Daniel Bordignon, have proved some of the tools that will be used in this edition of the International Campus.
On the one hand, they have performed common physical exercises of the training sessions. The Director of the International Campus, David Gil, coordinated the session and said that these gear serve “to coordinate the game without ball in order to be able to pass through a defender, perform reception feints and especially to work on the agility of legs and feet movement”.
Using those tools, it is ideal that the player “looks up and this way has the control of what happens on the court” Gil added.
Another new feature is the “limited vision glasses” that aim for “the player to maintain his head and sight up, not looking at the floor and always maintaining the eyes over the limited vision line”.
On the other hand, during the training sessions, the D-MAN will be used in order to simulate “defensive situations and obstacles”.
Finally, the young players have tried “reduced hoops” placed on the baskets so “effectiveness and accuracy” is improved. This tool will be used in the counterattack exercises so that players “miss more and this way a rebound and a rapid exit is provoked”.
After the test Carlos Martinez has given its evaluation on the new gear. “It´s good to use the hoop to help always shoot to the same place so this way the effectiveness is improved”. The players also spoke about the glasses. “Often you think that you are not looking at the floor but in fact you are doing it. With the glasses it is very interesting because it is going to allow the user to be more aware of the game”.
