The guard arrives in Vitoria with the objective of getting back in top shape, be the best defensive player in Europe and putting on an entertaining show.
This morning the presentation of the new Baskonia player Doron Perkins has taken place. He signed for a season and will wear number 8.
The guard arrived last week in Vitoria and passed all the medical exams thanks to IMQ and traveled to Vielha in order to join his teammates. The new Baskonia player has already disputed minutes with the Laboral Kutxa jersey during preseason and today was his first time addressing the media.
The game director explained that he wants to “give everything I’ve got in this team and come back to being one of the best defenders in Europe. I´m here for a reason, I want to achieve a great level in Europe and the most important thing is to be successful again over here”. When the Baskonia offer arrived he was “really pleased and happy because I know the history of this team, I’ve played a lot against them and I know they are a great group”.
Perkins explained during his presentation that physically he feels “great. I’m older, more mature and mentally better because I’ve been lots of years playing in the elite. I’m a better leader now”. He will share his spot with Thomas Heurtel and talked about the French during the presentation. “I’ve seen him play and I like him, I’m impressed. It’s going to be interesting playing together, I believe that together we can cause problems to the other teams” added the new Baskonia player.
“There are a lot of great teams in the league and whenever we face Barcelona or Real Madrid we need to have our best day”. He also added that he can “help coming off the bench or as a starter. I try to do what coach wants from me. As a guard I want my teammates to have fun while playing. I want to make the whole team play better”.
