The player stated that it´s quite easy to integrate the ideas of Marco Crespi. Hard work and giving the 100% in all aspects and situations, that´s what they´ve been asked for by the Italian coach.
The press conference for the presentation of Davis Bertans as new Laboral Kutxa Baskonia player took place this morning accompanied by sports director Felix Fernandez. The Latvian will wear number 42 on his back.
Bertans visited some parts of the stadium before entering the pressroom and got a hold of the pictures hanging through the halls. The new Baskonia player said that “it´s a great step for me being in such an historic club. I was on my way to the pressroom and saw the halls full of trophies and pictures of big players such as Prigioni, Splitter or Teletovic and I´d like to be one of the next to be there” for this, the player knows that he must “ play great games and win”.
During his presentation Davis Bertans joked a little bit. He doesn´t know Vitoria that well because he has been “dedicated to practise”. He knows a bit about the Basque Country though thanks to his brother Dairis who plays for Bilbao Basket. “He loves the Basque Country and told me there is a great rivalry between the two clubs because he hasn´t told me very good things. For real, he said it´s a great derby and I suppose we won´t be talking much a week prior or after the game between us” joked the player.
Bertans also talked about his first sensations. “I like the team and love the Crespi´s ideas. His ideas about hard work and young team. He asked from us to give our 100% all the time, both in practices and games. He is very clear that we must hustle and I think it´s quite easy to integrate on those ideas. We have to play together”, added the new Baskonia player.
Mamadou Diop and Adam Hanga
After Davis Bertans appearance, Felix Fernandez took the stand in order to confirm that Mamadou Diop will be part of the roster this year in the condition of formation player.
Diop will be the fourth fit in a roster of 12 players, apart from a guard that is yet to come. Fernandez also explained Adam Hanga´s situation. “We have it pretty much straight with Avellino, we will care of the last details during this week so he can come back” explained the sports director.
