Baskonia hold Araba Saria trophy after a 96-81 win over Guaros de Lara. Sito Alonso squad had a sluggish start for the first moments on the game but the made a progress later to get over the 2016 International Cup champs Guaros de Lara.
Blue and red team focused on the game with the purpose of getting some adjustments for the first game in Liga Endesa on Saturday. Once Baskonia got into rhythm they started getting leads but physical fatigue came up in our players letting Guaros come back into the game sometimes.
It’s been a game with many spaces and open shots and that allowed Baskonia to obtain some differences with a great 3pt percentage shooting from Shane Larkin (18 pts), Trevor Cooney (14 ptos) and Adam Hanga (17 pts).
Baskonia set the pace in the second half and our team kept the scoring flow along the last two quarters. For Guaros de Lara Gregory Echenique had 15 points and Zach Graham had 19, but there was no reason to think Baskonia’s victoria would stagger.
In the end Baskonia got back its trophy and has a 22 out of 25 record in this classical presentation game.
