The Vitorian group assumes 85% of the Croatian club in a new and ambitious internationalization operation.
Baskonia-Alaves Group takes a step forward in its internationalization project with the acquisition of 85% of the shares of NK Istra 1961. The City Hall of Pula joins the adventure as the only partner. Therefore, the Vitorian group becomes the owner and takes control of the Croatian club in an ambitious operation in which it will implement its integral management model throughout all the areas of this historic club.
The Vitorian entity acquires the debt inherited from the past management and will implement its successful economic, sport and administrative management model, implementing the Group’s methodology in the generation of resources or in the sports performance methodology in order to work on the detection and development of young players from this talented area.
NK Istra was founded 70 years ago (1948) in the city of Pula and currently has a team in the HNL, the Croatian First Division, and a youth football structure with eleven teams, two of them female. It has a stadium with capacity for 9,500 spectators and a solid football academy.
In this way, the Baskonia-Alaves Group expands its scouting network in this area. The Istrian region, the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea has a marked sentiment of belonging and a lot of wealth thanks to trade and tourism. This area also bears similarities with the Basque Country and the character of its inhabitants.
More details will be announced soon concerning the sports configuration and the following steps in this new and exciting project undertaken by the Baskonia-Alaves Group.
