The Italian, four adding for the season, speaks himself for the first time as baskonista and define Vitoria fans as “a big factor in my choice to come here.”
Andrea Bargnani offers his first impressions as blue and red player. The new Laboral Kutxa Baskonia center lands at Zurbano’s organization after compiting ten seasons in the NBA.
“I know a lot and I always respected the club and the organization. I chose what is the most challenging and best fits for me,”says.
Rome-born player reminds his first steps in the Euroleague including playing at Buesa Arena. “It’s always been a great and electrifying experience being out there. The Baskonia fans and how they are involved during the games and their overall commitment to the club was a big factor in my choice to come here. I love to play in front of a great crowd that really knows about basketball.”
About the newest Euroleague format, Bargnani tells it is “fantastic”. “It is great because with the new format every single game is a huge game under every prospective. One of those game that before maybe we were only used to see once a month. That is amazing for the fans as well as the players.”
Bargnani was aware of Baskonia before landing in Vitoria as he had few teammates in the NBA who wore the blue and red jersey. Calderon, “Garbajosa and Prigioni have talked to me about Baskonia pretty much, they have been good mentors of mine as I was younger and able to learn a lot from them. Anyway, I remember Pablo better because it was more recent.”
On his new city Vitoria-Gasteiz, Bargnani is “anxious” to start the sooner the better. “I know Vitoria is different than New York. Both, big cities and small cities have pros and cons so I am very curious to take advantage and enjoying living in a more quite city. These days I am always on the internet taking informations and watching photos and videos about Vitoria.”
