Italian 30 years-old power forward, a NBA star after being selected number one in the 2006 NBA Draft by Toronto Raptors, arrives at Baskonia to a 2-year deal.
Rome-born player has been engaged in the NBA the last 10 seasons, seven of them as a Raptor and the past three in New York (first two courses as a knickerbocker and in 2015-16 with the Brooklyn Nets). Bargnani has averaged with his latest franchise 6.6 points per game and 2.1 boards. He also registered 14.3 points per game and 4.6 rebounds in his NBA career.
Bargnani has been one of the European stars in the NBA once he was selected as No.1 by Toronto Raptors in the 2006 draft. The ‘azzurro’ became the first European player (sixth outside the US) and the second without university or college previous experience in being picked on top of the draft chart.
Italian player is the fourth signing for Laboral Kutxa Baskonia after Johannes Voigtmann, Rafa Luz and Rodrigue Beaubais. Andrea has recently participated with Italy in the Olympics Qualifiers at Torino venue, while his national team could not advance to Rio. Bargnani was chosen as the 2005-06 Euroleague Rising Star.
