This model is a pioneer initiative within European sport areas and its aim is to take care of the constant improvement from the young to elite teams of each clubs.
Baskonia and Alaves recruits a multidisciplinary group of experts setting up BAL Sport Performance System, a pioneer system regarding integral performance which looks for the efficiency of every member of the club either pro or homegrown base.
The first-level staff integrates doctors, physicians, nutritionists, pshycologists coaches and analysts. Igor Jukic, Faculty of Kinesiology University of Zagreb will command it. He is specialized in physical conditioning having racked up broad experience consulting various athletes and Croatia National Team both football and basketball. Igor Jukic has been honored with Croatia’s National Award for sport.
Jukic is in charge of an ambitious project which is divided by eight areas coordinated and leader by all the experts in each subject. What it is required for the players to reach an optimum physical condition taking into account the demands of the competitions to achieve collective and individual goals.
Beyond the must sports medicine, physical conditioning and physiotherapy areas, which will be under the leadership of the professionals at Alaves and Baskonia, BAL project spreads to Testing area evaluating and monitoring all the players along the season by Julen Castellano, Doctor in Sport Sciences and University of Basque Country professor.
Physical conditioning coaches Iñigo Simon and Oscar Bilbao –vinculated to the first team of Baskonia for the last two decades– will be responsible for rehabilitation and recovering areas combining all their wisdom and expertise to look after the athletes’ condition.
Motivational and psychological aspects linked to pros and young players performances is relied on Joseba del Carmen, professional coach specialized in strategic coaching executive for teams.
Ainhoa Prieto, Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetic is specialized in sports nutrition. She was responsible for the Liverpool Women’s Team nutritional programs last season.
Lastly, Talent identification and Education area will encourage players and coaches’ development focusing on homegrown players and future assets for both teams.
