The Slovenian arrives in Vitoria with the objective of making the fan base be proud of the team.
This morning the presentation of the new Baskonia player Sasha Vujacic has taken place. The player signs a contract until the end of the season and will wear number 19. The Slovenian has been accompanied in the pressroom by Felix Fernandez, the Sports Director of the club.
“I´m so excited to be here and don´t think it´s necessary to talk about the plenty of success this club has had in the past years. I´m eager to embrace this challenge. I´ve worked out a lot during summer and have been waiting for the best opportunity. I´m here to give the best of me”, those were the first words of Vujacic as a Baskonia player.
The Slovenian stated that he wants to “be part of this team. I love the intensity Marco puts in and that the philosophy of the team is based on learning and getting better. I believe I can turn out good for this team”.
The shooting guard added that “last year I was waiting for a good opportunity as well. I will do everything the coach tells me to do and something I´ve learnt throughout my career is that if all the players actually play together you can win”.
Vujacic explained that he now is in Baskonia which “is a great team with a good coach. A team is not made overnight, it takes lots of hard work and it´s not always possible to win. Over here we are going to work a lot on defense which I believe it´s good for a young team. We want to make our fan base proud of the team”.
He has also defined himself. “I´m a team player who always wants to win. It´s always good to be up there. Defense is one of the most important aspects of a game, if you play good defense you can win. The coach asks us to work on the extra pass and for me this is a philosophy of winning games. If we stick together we can win games”.
Experienced both in the NBA and in Europe, Sasha Vujacic it´s a player who has always liked the “moments in which everything is decided, the crunchtime part game and any player would have to love that moment in which they have to play your heart out in the court, leave it all, that´s the most thrilling part”.
The new Baskonia player said that he knows “some of the players and have placed against some of them when I was younger. The captain, Fernando San Emeterio, has been here for a lot of years, he is a great guy and I´m looking forward to playing alongside him. I also know some of the other players and believe this is a group with great talent”.
