Colton Iverson, one of the new faces of the 2014-15 Baskonia, defines himself as a hard worker and an avid golfer. He is so pleased to be a Baskonia member.
Colton Iverson is one of the five new signings of the 2014-15 Laboral Kutxa. The team has started practicing this morning under the commands of new coach Marco Crespi. The American knows European basketball due to his past in Besiktas and will make his debut in the Spanish league as a member of an historic club. The first impressions are very positive. From now on, the purpose is to work hard in order to find the chemistry to form a competitive block.
Your first days and practice here in Vitoria with the new teammates. What are your sensations?
I feel very good, I like the group of guys and I love getting to play again. Lots of talented players who come back, I think we have great chemistry and I´m happy to belong to this group. Today we had our first practice, we worked hard and that´s what we’ll do until the start of the season.
New team, new league and the opportunity to continue growing in Europe.
I know quite a lot about Baskonia, the Euroleague and the ACB League and this is a great opportunity for me. This is a well-respected historic team and I´m so excited about having the opportunity to belong to such an organization.
After a year in the Eurocup, you get to take a step head to the best European competition.
The Euroleague is the best European competition and I´ll be ready, as a matter of fact, I need to be ready. I´ve worked hard during summer. Competing in the Eurocup has made me better but I have to work hard this year in order to be ready for the Euroleague. I think the team is going to be ready to do great things.
Define yourself…
I´m a hard worker, someone who everyday gives its hundred percent in all aspects. I defend, rebound and I don´t care about doing the “dirty jobs” some players may not like so much. It´s not about talent, It´s all about the hustle.
Preseason in order to form a solid block and get the needed chemistry.
I think we can make great chemistry with the players who continue from the last seasons and from there build on with the new arrivals. For this, I believe that these two first weeks are really important so we can get to know each other better and keep on working together.
What has coach Crespi asked from you guys?
Hard work. He knows we´ve got talent and potential so what he wants from us is that we give it all everyday so we can compete with anybody.
Just a curiosity… How is it playing golf with such a great height?
It´s different (laughs). You have to bend more your knees in order to reach the floor with the brat. I love golf, I´m a big fan and I like it since I was a little kid. I hope to find a golf course around here in order to maintain my golf skills.
