The player wanted to send a message to Baskonia, its fans and the city of Vitoria once he has known his injury diagnosis.
Lamar Odom will be approximately two months out due to his injury and will perform the recovery process in the United States. Once the diagnosis was known, the player wanted to express his gratitude to the Club and the Baskonia fans. “ I wanted to say Thank you. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding. Not only Baskonia people but the whole city of Vitoria-Gasteiz has shown me much appreciation as a person and not just as a basketball player. I want to thank the continuous support. I’m a little embarrassed but at the same time I’m proud to say that I’m injured and have a team that understands my process and continues to support me. That means a lot to me and makes me have much respect for them. What Baskonia has done for me during this short time has made me understand that people wanted and appreciated me. “Look at the graffiti, people like you, see what you mean to them. That was amazing”
On his injury has stated that “it is something that is beyond my control or anyone else’s. I have to be responsible and take care of the injury. I want to take it seriously and with pride. This journey has not finished so I have to take care of this injury and will do it over here but I’m still representing Baskonia and what I want is to try to get back out there and put on a good show for the people of Vitoria. I want to do it with integrity and pride and without harming either the club, the team or me. “
Odom has made his intentions clear. “I think that everything happens for a reason and now in Vitoria and Baskonia I have a home waiting for me. It is a place I will always return. I would like to return to the court as soon as possible, treat this injury and be strong on the court in order to prove that I feel better” he said.
